As a member of the Electrical Engineering group at e3i, Glenn is responsible for the design of building electrical power, lighting, and fire alarm systems for both renovation and new construction projects.
Glenn’s favorite part about his job is the variation of designs on which he gets to work. Every project and client are so different from each other, there are multiple ways to approach each project. Analyzing each client’s specific needs and goals, he goes into deep problem-solving mode to come up with just the right solution given the unique situation. From strict electrical design projects to those where mechanical and IT are also coordinated, Glenn mainly focuses on building infrastructure upgrades, data center infrastructure, establishing systems for new construction projects, and office fit-outs for clients in the hospitality and higher education industries. For data center facilities, Glenn utilizes SKM Power Tools, an in-depth engineering software used to model and manipulate the calculations of a working electrical system. The program calculates short circuit currents and the potential incident energy as a result of a fault current, providing arc flash hazard labels to be printed and displayed on each piece of a facility’s electrical equipment.
When Glenn isn’t working or busy adapting to the latest and great design software, you can find him outside. He loves disc golf, fishing, hiking and skiing. In fact, when his career in the engineering field is complete, his dream job would be a ski instructor.
